When Korean Yes Means No
Posted by sky | Tags: Korean
Answering questions that require 'yes' and 'no' answers can be a bit tricky in Korean. If the question is positive, then you answer as you would in English. However, if the question is negative, then the answer you give will be the opposite to what you would say in English, eg: Don't you love me? English: Yes, I love you. or No, I don't. Korean: No, I love you. or Yes, I don't. It goes without saying that you need to think very carefully when answering negative questions in Korean! Previous Post Next Post
